How is it April already and how do AWA keep smashing out hit after hit? No new titles this month but the issues we have been given are all top notch as always.
Red Zone #2, what an amazing follow up to the first issue. I was not expecting it to ramp up the action this quickly in the series. We certainly saw the Professor handling the situation extremely well and we got the introduction to a very fun rogues gallery. There is more to this series than I thought there was going to be, thought it was going to be a slower pace intrigue filled story but boy was I wrong, it's an action film in paper form. Can’t wait to see what the 3rd issue brings to the table.
Black Tape #3, another great issue, we got to see more about Jack in his earlier days before he met Cindy and he was quite the naughty boy, no wonder he got the reputation he had. As more of the story was revealed it became clear that Cindy was in a lot more trouble than she or us realised. I’m still a bit thrown by the last page, is that a red herring? Or the reveal of the true evil?
Last but by no means least we got Trojan #4, this last issue of the series sent us off with an epic battle and maybe a little bit of hope for things to come. I really enjoyed this series, there were some twists and turns along the way that kept it from being too predictable and overall I really liked the way it went.
What have we got coming up in May?
May sees the release of AWAs first ever original graphic novel, Gatsby. This is out on the 10th May. I have been fortunate to have been able to read a preview of the book and it was great (link below to the preview) . I think this will be a popular read for many and it will be interesting to see peoples thoughts on this format going forward.
17th May sees the release of Red Zone issue 3, after the last issue I really don't know what to expect next, I am hoping for more action and to see more of Cranes rogues gallery. I have a feeling this issue might push things a bit further with the crazy and I am all for that.
On the 24th May we get the final issue of the outstanding Black Tape. To say I am excited for this is an understatement. I can not wait to see the full story revealed and to learn what has really been going on all this time. And I will finally have all my B&W covers together as well 🙂
