Ben Percy and Brent Schoonover present a nerve-racking thriller examining murder in the dark underbelly of America’s heartland. A young woman with a dark family secret embarks on a quest to hunt down the serial killer that brutally murdered her father – only to discover he is just one piece of a national network of evil that snakes across the country and hides in plain sight. To catch the devil she must first embrace the darkness within.

Thoughts…For me this is one of the best series from AWA and the series that set in my head that I was going to get everything they released going forward. The story, setting and characters are all spot on. The level of fear that is generated by this style of story is so much higher than a supernatural setting as this could very much be real and the combination of the writing and art heighten that to an excellent degree. The series doesn’t hold back when it comes to the nasty details as such but does stop from being too graphic. There are a few twists and turns and they keep the story going well, the pacing is good throughout. The storytelling has a depth to it that keeps you engaged throughout. What starts as a simple murder investigation builds to a nationwide conspiracy and it is handled really well and doesn’t feel like force, the story progression feels natural.

I really like this story from start to finish and can still remember sitting and reading it the first time and being blown away by it. Fans of horror with a more mystery thriller setting will really like this title. For me this is a 9 out of 10 all the way.
