You won’t find it on any map, but if you happen to be driving down Route 66 late at night and you’re truly desperate for shelter, sanctuary or secrecy, you might see a battered sign on the side of the road: The Pierrot Courts Hotel. – where many check in but few check out.
Thoughts…This series is awesome, the perfect horror story, it even has a creepy clown. The way the story unfolds throughout the issues is great, the way that everything is connected but you could read each as a separate story. All the twists and turns throughout the series keep you hooked right up to the end and with each reveal it will have you checking back to the previous issues to see what other little details you missed. And those details are not only in the writing but also in the great artwork, the little nods to what is to come ahead that you don't realise as you are reading. There are some really gruesome scenes within the pages of the issues but they are presented in such a way that you can’t turn your eyes from the page, really fantastic work all round.
This series is spot on, it crosses over into different sub genres of horror throughout and blurs the lines to make one truly spectacularly creepy tale. Writing and art perfectly complement each other to make a great first volume, this is such an easy 9 out of 10 for me.
