Black Tape 3

After the discoveries made last issue it appears Cindy is in more danger than at first was thought and it seems she was destined to be the 7th missing girl, have they been sacrificed in order to open the portal to Hell? Was that also meant to be Cindy's fate?

Thoughts…

This issue builds on the set up of the last two and then by the end of it ramps everything up to 100. We have heard a lot about Jack from Cindy's point of view how he had changed and was going to leave it all behind for her but in this issue we get to see Jack as he was before. I liked the way a photo album was used to show what had gone before rather than prematurely revealing a member or members of the conspiracy/cult. There is a lot to unpack in this issue as it appears to lay everything out for us the why and who are all there to see, but is that all too easy? While it appears we have had our big reveal, is there more going on here than meets the eye and I think that is the beauty of this series for me. From the start I've been trying to read between the lines and check the background for clues and second guess everything that gets presented as the series continues. Maybe I am looking too deeply into these things but I have a feeling that we are meant to feel uneasy and as we read this and there are red herrings throughout the run, such as that last page in the issue, I don’t think it is as it appears at all, but I could be wrong. It is definitely trust no one and nothing….Damn you Panosian..

This is a different type of horror story here, it feels like it has its roots in an older style of setting. This isn’t about shock and awe, this is about fear of the unknown and unseen, what's lurking just out of sight in the darkness. But also it's about isolation and paranoia, who can you trust and what way can you turn. Cindy has no one she can turn to and there are secrets in her very home that makes her feel unsafe even there add to that the Satanic angle and it's no wonder she feels she is losing her mind.

I have my theories as to what is going on that I will keep to myself as I don't want to spoil anything for people that have not read the issue yet. Everything is ready for the last issue and there will be some shocks coming for us all. This series has been great from the start and with this issue the stage is set for one hell of a finale. I can’t wait to read that final issue and to go back over the others to see if I picked up on the clues that I should have. I would give this issue 9 out of 10 as it is on par with the first issue, will the final issue raise it to a 10?
