The Chariot was a Cold War-era secret government project to provide its star agent with a weapon unlike any other in the form of a supercharged muscle car. It sank into the ocean decades ago, and the agent along with it. Now, a petty criminal looking to reform his life has stumbled upon the Chariot, and he’s about to find out that the agent’s consciousness is still controlling it in this synthwave thriller.

Thoughts…..I can remember reading the first issue when it came and being really impressed with it, from the writing to the artwork. It is such a fast paced opening with the car chase, big explosions and the apache helicopter opening fire on the bridge, it felt cinematic from the first pages. We then get introduced to a likable main character in Jim, the reformed criminal trying to do right by his family. As the story unfolds and we learn more about the setting it feels like a Bond film on speed, even has a classic villain with their own island hideout. We even get a matrix style training montage for the extra hightech element to the setting. There are plenty of breadcrumbs left by the end of the story to allow for a volume 2 and I am really hoping we get to see it.

This is one of the series that has been optioned for a media project and I can’t wait to see what that looks like, be it a feature film or a TV series that could work well in either format.

This is a great series and an awesome setting, we definitely need more from this title, I would give this 9 out of 10 for sure.

If you like this series I would recommend American Ronin, Absolution & Primos
