The dusty desert town of Redemption survived the apocalypse but is hanging on by a thread. A despot rules the town with an iron fist and controls its most precious resource: water. When that strongman marks her mother for death, young Rose Obregon ventures into the perilous wasteland to seek the help of the legendary gunslinger Cat Tanner, only to discover that the so-called “Butcher” is long retired, living in solitude, far from what’s left of the world, and preferring to keep it that way. When Rose arrives on Tanner’s doorstep, with gunmen hot on her trail, the Butcher has a choice to make: sit on the sidelines or pick up her guns and do what she does best?
Thoughts….This series is so spot on with its setting and characters, post apocalyptic sci fi western at its best. You instantly got the tone of the story with the overly oppressed townsfolk controlled by a narrow minded chauvinistic despot and the fight against that oppression being the main theme of the story. The interior artwork and covers are great. You get the feeling the world is dirty and gritty and they are stuck in a Barren wasteland and the western theme is clear.
Redemption is a great title for this series as the main characters atone for their past sins and the villains get what's coming to them. A great one and done story, it one that doesn’t need a volume 2 as such but another story set in this world would definitely be a great read, I would give this series 7 out of 10
